The story begins

This app development project was undertaken by me and my fellow classmates during a Hackathon program as part of the App Development course. The program was a collaboration between IESEG School of Management and Avanade, a consulting company within the Microsoft ecosystem in France.

Over the course of one week, we were tasked with designing an application to manage the procurement and inventory management processes for a client—a railway company. Their concern was the lack of a convenient and automated process to manage reports on equipment purchases and repairs. Maintenance and repair staff spent a significant amount of time reporting to upper management through disjointed emails. These managers were so busy that they often forgot about these emails, causing delays in the approval process and subsequently affecting the maintenance schedules and performance of the railway systems.

Since the company is currently using the Microsoft ecosystem, they wanted the application to integrate seamlessly into their existing systems without incurring additional costs and time. That’s why we developed this application using Power Platform and integrated it with Microsoft Teams to create an approval channel through the company’s primary communication app.

As a result, our engaging presentation and design met most of the company’s requirements, and we won first place in the competition. You can view our product, including the slides, below.

Contribution: Thank you to all my teammates. Together we stayed up late at night, did so much research to find the best approach and modelled our application. Time congestion and only a few experiences with Power Platform before that did not prevent us from successfully making this application at the end. Your dedication and creativity are invaluable to ourselves and to me!
